Affordable methods for estimating aerobic and anaerobic thresholds: a review ofthe scientific literatura
Main Article Content
Abstract
The present research focused on evaluating affordable methods to determine aerobic and anaerobic thresholds without the need for expensive equipment. Alternatives were addressed such as subjective perception of effort, the talk test, critical speed and the heart rate deflection point. After reviewing 13 studies, it was concluded that the talk test is the most consistent and accessible option, with high correlations and no significant differences with aerobic and anaerobic thresholds. Although other tests may be valid, the talk test stood out for its applicability at different levels of physical activity and its consistency in results.
